Sphero® S underwater pelletizing machinery system makes waves in China

Building on over sixty years of technological and industry experience, Automatik Plastics Machinery—a subsidiary of Maag, a member of Dover Corporation’s Pump Solutions Group (PSG®)—launched its innovative design, the Sphero® S underwater pelletizing system, before the scrutiny of attendees at the Chinaplas 2014 technical conference this past April. As one of the largest and fastest growing industrial sectors on the globe, the Chinese market provides a proving ground for new designs and ideas and the Chinaplas conference annually brings together a wide variety of leaders from the plastics and rubber industries. Specifically designed and engineered for the mid-tier polymer production market, the Sphero® S is ideally suited to meet the demands in compounding, masterbatch, and recycling applications.

02CS01Other improvements to the Sphero® S include a new frame that allows it to be mounted on a single mobile structure, which guarantees a perfect alignment and a reduced footprint. Starting the system is almost instant, accomplished with a simple press of a button. The water bypass design has also been fine-tuned resulting in a speedier start-up. In addition, special attention has been given to the design of the cutter head to guarantee process integrity and ensure the production of evenly shaped, high-quality pellets. System options include a flow meter with shut-off valve, sight glass, stroboscope, water blow out device, visual indicator for heating cartridges performance

READY FOR TODAY’S PRODUCTION PROCESS

“Pelletizing is one of the most important steps in the production process of a wide variety of plastic and rubber products,” Andreas Weidner adds, “and Automatik pelletizing systems have been designed to integrate perfectly into the production line to simplify operations and maximize output in the most efficient manner possible. The new Sphero® S will continue this tradition, only now with a simpler and more cost-effective design.” ■
