Moyno Grifter pump

NOV has demonstrated its ability to support its outstanding pump products with reliable installation services for a replacement pump project in the United Kingdom. The company supplied and installed a Moyno GrifterTM pump that is transferring sewage for the Yellowfoot Experience at Berkshire, UK.

The Yellowfoot Experience provides a wide range of team-building, conference, fun-day and event services. “At any one time we can have very large numbers of people visiting our site, so we needed an improved and reliable sewage handling solution to transfer the sewage from the lodge and café facilities to the main sewerage system,” said Yellowfoot spokesman Simon Percival.

“The GrifterTM pump certainly ticked those boxes, and the fact that NOV could also handle the installation work made it the obvious solution to our needs.”

The GrifterTM pump, with a capacity range of between 60 and 141.3 cubic feet (1.7 and 4 cubic meters) per hour, incorporates a tri-hammer macerator and a MoynoTM progressing cavity pump from NOV, and is designed specifically for this type of small-scale sewage handling at remote facilities.

The macerator provides highly effective protection for the pump, whose suction capacity draws sewage from the sump into the cutting chamber. Fibrous materials, paper and textiles are macerated by the impeller, while more solid objects fall out of suspension and back into the sump for removal.

The positive displacement action of the pump means that head pressure is independent of speeds, which permits it to operate at slow speeds while still maintaining high head pressure. This contributes towards low wear rates, increased component life and lower maintenance costs.

NOV provides many options across a range of different product lines and  handled all aspects of this project, including disconnection and removal of the old equipment, installation and connection of the new Grifter unit and all electrical connections.

Also, when it comes to handling wastewater treatment applications, NOV can provide significant advantages that can reduce downtime, increase cost savings, and enhance operational productivity.

Options include:

  • Fiber deflector to prevent pump ragging that can lead to downtime due to blockage.
  • Shaft sleeve to protect drive shaft from wear in highly abrasive applications.
  • Flush gland that permits controlled leakage of process or flush fluids.

Control packages like the advanced, integrated touch screen packages found on the 2000 HS system and run-dry fluid detection and control package.

NOV manufactures Moyno™ progressing cavity pumps, grinders, screens, and aftermarket replacement parts and services, across a broad spectrum of industrial sectors including water and wastewater, oil and gas, chemical, pulp and paper, food and beverage and agriculture. For more information, visit
