The 2019 AHR Expo is the industry’s largest HVACR event, hosting thousands of industry professionals and more than 2,100 exhibiting companies each year. Since 1930, the AHR Expo has provided a unique forum where the entire HVACR industry, including OEMs; engineers; contractors; manufacturers; distributors; commercial, industrial, and institutional facility operators; and educators can come together to discover the latest products, learn about new technologies, and develop mutually beneficial business relationships. This year’s show, co-sponsored by ASHRAE and AHRI, will be held January 14-16, 2019, at the Georgia World Congress Center, Atlanta, and is held concurrently with ASHRAE’s Winter Conference. This event marks the show’s return to Atlanta for the first time since 2001.
Spread over two halls of impressive floor real estate, AHR Expo is poised to kick off an eventful year for HVACR with technological advancements in IoT and automation, as well as building standards for indoor air quality. Existing exhibitors are set to return with new debuts and add-ons to existing products and services, and many new exhibitors are filtering in from crossover markets helping to advance the HVACR industry.
GLOBAL INNOVATION IN ONE PLACE
The 2019 AHR Expo will preview the future of the HVACR industry with exhibitors from around the globe coming together to showcase new and upgraded products, technologies, and innovations.
“Each year the industry comes together under one roof to display the very latest tools and technologies that enable HVACR professionals to keep up with the rapid pace of change in the industry,” says Clay Stevens, manager of AHR Expo. “With thousands of attendees joining from all over the world, the show provides a unique forum for the whole industry to share ideas, cultivate relationships, and experience first-hand all of the exciting advances being made in HVACR.”
Exhibitors will be displaying new solutions that serve every kind of HVACR function ranging from highly efficient equipment and components to whole building management systems including building automation and control technologies that connect and communicate via the Internet of Things (IoT), time-saving tools and instruments that require less time at the jobsite, and a myriad of products and solutions that support the efficiency evolution. Attendees are encouraged to utilize the searchable directory of exhibitors and product categories prior to show attendance for more information on each exhibitor showcase.
INDUSTRY SURVEY RESULTS RELEASED
The AHR Expo provides visitors with the industry’s best opportunity to keep pace with the rapid pace of change and innovation. The AHR industry survey supports this notion, revealing a 5 percent increase at 64 percent (up from last year’s 59 percent) of responding organizations reporting their intention to debut new products at the 2019 show.
For the third year, the report shows a shift in potential market drivers for business, with retrofit and renovations taking the lead for 2019 at 36 percent—up nearly 10 percent from last year. Previous years saw prospects for new construction, which was the highest rated in 2018; and maintenance and replacement in 2017. This fluctuation in business prospects further supports the ever-changing HVACR market and the need for industry professionals to remain active in industry conversations and trendspotting through participation in industry events such as the AHR Expo.
As expected, reliability remains the most important customer requirement when making buying decisions. Responses indicate a steady rise in energy efficiency and indoor air quality as close second top-rated factors for purchase decision-making. Energy efficiency saw the most growth, up 6 percent to more than 96 percent of respondents ranking it important to very important in their considerations. This aligns with the responses for most important trend or issue with potential impact for businesses in 2019—leading the charge is the Internet of Things (IoT) and the rise of connected buildings as they relate to energy efficiency and smart control.
